Got questions? We’ve got answers!
What Utah and Arizona lakes do you serve?
With the convenience of rent and tow, you can take our watercraft to the lake or destination of your choice. We service Lake Powell (Page) with a two day minimum rental, on any combination of days.
You can also pick up watercraft from Page and tow to the destination of your choice.
Do you offer hourly or half-day rentals?
We do not offer hourly rentals or half-day rentals. However, you are free to take the watercraft for the amount of time you wish, within the rental period, but you will be charged for a full day rental.
Can I keep my rental overnight?
Yes, and here are some things to know about overnight and multi-day rentals. To avoid being charged for extra time, schedule to pick up your rental after 5pm on the pick-up date and you won’t be charged for the pick up day. When returning, schedule before 9:30am on the return date and you won’t be charged for the return date.
We will expect you to properly anchor, store or secure your rental, no boats may be beached overnight. Feel free to contact us to discuss these options.
What is your deposit, payment, and cancellation policy?
A refundable deposit per boat or watercraft is due at the time you book your reservation. The amount of your actual rental is due 14 days prior to the start of your reservation and will be charged automatically to the same credit card you used when you made your reservation. (If you’d like to use a different credit card, be sure to contact us with that payment method more than 14 days in advance.)
Your deposit is 100% refundable, assuming you return your rental in the same condition you received it. Items that may be deducted from your deposit include: overtime fee if your rental is returned late, cost to refuel the watercraft if not returned with a full tank of fuel, any damages to the watercraft or equipment incurred during your rental, excessive cleaning required at the end of your rental period, failure to return or loss of equipment such as lost keys, life jackets, wakeboards, surf boards, tubes, etc.
You may cancel your reservation up to 30 days prior to the start of your reservation for a full refund. Cancellations made after 30 days and prior to 14 days before the start of your rental period will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to your rental period will forfeit the full amount of your rental.
What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay for your reservation online securely via Stripe, which accepts most major credit cards.
Are life jackets included with my rental?
Your safety is our priority. We include life jackets in a range of average adult sizes to meet the maximum capacity of each boat. To ensure that all children are in a properly fitting life jacket, we recommend that you bring your own life jackets for any children in your group who are under the age of 13.
By law, all life jackets must be U.S. Coast Guard approved and on the boat for all persons onboard. Any person under the age of 13 must wear their life jacket at all times. All persons must wear a life jacket while operating a personal watercraft. In addition, life jackets must be worn while swimming from a boat or personal watercraft.
Who can operate the boat or personal watercraft? Do I have to have a license or experience to operate?
For BOATS including surf boats and pontoons, passengers of all ages are permitted, however only those passengers 21 years of age or older may operate the boat and must have a valid driver’s license.
The renter and operators of any watercraft need to understand both Federal and State laws. (For Lake Powell, this means both Arizona and Utah boating laws which apply on the lake.) We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not understand the boating laws or who we believe are incapable of understanding or the ability to comply with these laws.
Renters will need to have basic boating experience to rent and be able to comprehend operating instructions provided by our staff at the time of delivery.
If you are ticketed while operating any watercraft, the renter or operator will be responsible for all fees, fines, and/or penalties incurred, according to law.
Do we need to fuel the watercraft? What type of fuel?
Your rental comes fully fueled and you will be expected to return it with a full tank of fuel. You have two options for refueling your rental:
You may fill up using the 89 or higher octane and provide us a receipt when you return the rental, indicating that it is full of fuel.
Or, if you prefer, we can re-fuel for you after you return your rental and deduct the fuel costs from your deposit. We will email you a copy of the receipt we obtain after fueling.
What kinds of items are prohibited on the watercraft? Are there activities that are not allowed?
We want you to have as much fun as possible, however, for your safety, the safety of other boaters, and to keep our fleet in top operating condition, we ask the following:
No smoking.
Do not operate the watercraft while intoxicated.
No glass bottles or containers.
Do not operate the watercraft with more people on board than rated for.
Remove shoes while onboard.
No pets over 20 lbs.
Do not beach boats.
No operating watercraft after sunset.
Violation of these policies will result in the immediate termination of your rental contract and forfeiture of all monies paid by the Renter, including the full amount due for the rental regardless of how much time remains on the rental.
What happens if it’s windy or raining?
Weather is unpredictable and can change from one moment to the next on the lake. We want you to have a great experience but safety is also a concern. We reserve the right to cancel any rental, at or prior to check-in time, due to weather concerns, at OUR DISCRETION. You will be fully refunded for the time we have canceled. Anytime after the watercraft is on the water, if the weather is to change, which it frequently does, we do NOT offer refunds due to changing weather conditions.
What happens if the watercraft breaks down?
We perform regular maintenance on our rentals and take pride in keeping them in top condition. With that said, mechanical failures do happen and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If a breakdown is due in part to normal mechanical failure, we will issue a refund and any cost incurred by having the boat towed as a result of the failure. If a mechanical failure or damage is found to be caused by the renter’s carelessness or inexperience, the renter will be held responsible for the full rental and costs incurred by having the boat towed as well as all costs to fix the mechanical failure or damage.
Keep in mind that there is always a risk that a specific item may be deemed inoperable prior to the start of your rental period. If this happens, we will notify you as soon as possible if we need to modify or cancel your rental. If Salty Squad cancels your rental under this circumstance, we will refund your entire rental fee and deposit. Salty Squad will not be held liable for any other costs incurred.
